What are Cosmetic Injectables?
The term ‘Cosmetic Injectable’ covers both botulinum toxin based muscle relaxants and injectable fillers. Australian advertising guidelines prevent us from using brand names, but you probably know what we’re talking about! For the purpose of this article, we’ll call them cosmetic injectables.
Our facial muscles help us express emotion by moving our eyes, eyebrows and mouth. Having used those same muscles from birth the skin over the contracting muscle can develop a line or wrinkle. Sometimes a skin analysis will show there are some skin care issues we can address. But for a faster path to less wrinkles we can stop the muscle contracting for a short time. By doing this, the skin rests and is able to remodel the collagen over that ‘wrinkle’. So you can see that by administering muscle relaxants to a very carefully considered selection of sites on the face, a more relaxed appearance is achieved. Wrinkles are reduced and everyone at that 30 year school reunion remarks how well you’re looking!
