Aquapure Hydrafacial: Taking your skincare to the next level.
Good skin doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of consistent care, the right products, and treatments that takes everything to a whole new level.
The Aquapure Hydrafacial is exactly that kind of treatment. In 30 to 45 minutes, it deeply cleanses, exfoliates, hydrates, and revitalises the skin using four distinct technologies, each targeting a different aspect of skin health. The result is skin that looks noticeably clearer, feels deeply nourished, and glows in the way that well-cared-for skin does.
It’s one of my favourite treatments to recommend because almost everyone leaves looking and feeling genuinely better. Here’s everything you need to know about how it works and whether it’s right for you.
What Is the Aquapure Hydrafacial?
The Aquapure Hydrafacial is a non-invasive hydro-dermabrasion facial treatment that combines four technologies in a single session: aqua peeling, electroporation, microcurrent therapy, and cooling/heating energy.
Unlike a standard facial, which works primarily on the surface, the Aquapure system works across multiple layers of the skin. Each step builds on the last, so by the end of the treatment, your skin has been thoroughly cleansed, actively nourished at a deeper level, toned and lifted, and then soothed and firmed.
It’s suitable for all skin types, requires no downtime, and delivers results you can see immediately.
The Four Steps: What Each One Does
Each step of the Aquapure Hydrafacial is delivered using its own dedicated handpiece, targeting different skin concerns and layers.
Step 1: Aquapeel — Deep Cleanse, Exfoliation and Hydration

This is where the treatment begins, and it does three things in sequence. First, lactic acid gently exfoliates the skin, lifting and removing dead skin cells to reveal a fresher surface beneath. Next, salicylic acid dissolves excess sebum and clears congestion from pores, targeting blackheads and whiteheads while maintaining the skin’s moisture balance. Finally, the skin is infused with hyaluronic acid and antioxidant-rich ingredients to hydrate and nourish.
The Aquapeel handpiece uses gentle suction to simultaneously remove impurities and deliver these solutions, so the skin is being cleansed and nourished at the same time. It’s thorough but comfortable.
Step 2: Electroporation — Deeper Delivery of Active Ingredients

Once the skin has been cleansed and primed, the electroporation handpiece takes over. It uses controlled electrical pulses to temporarily increase the permeability of the skin’s cell membranes, creating pathways that allow the active ingredients from step one to penetrate far deeper than they otherwise would.
Think of it as dramatically improving the delivery of everything your skin has just received. The hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, and peptides reach the layers where they can do the most good. There’s no discomfort; most clients describe a mild warmth or tingling.
Step 3: Microcurrent — Lifting, Toning and Collagen Stimulation

Microcurrent therapy uses low-level electrical current to stimulate the facial muscles and deeper skin tissues. It’s sometimes described as a workout for the face, and that’s a reasonable analogy: the current encourages the muscles to contract and tone, producing a subtle but visible lifting effect.
Beyond the immediate lift, microcurrent also stimulates collagen and elastin production and improves circulation, which contributes to longer-term firmness and a more even, radiant complexion. It’s one of the steps that separates the Aquapure from a standard hydrating facial.
Step 4: Cooling and Heating Energy — Soothing, Firming and Finishing

The final step uses thermal energy to complete the treatment. Cooling energy, applied at around -5°C, calms any residual sensitivity, helps close pores, and supports the skin’s natural repair processes. Heating energy is used to firm and tone the skin, enhancing the lifting effect from the microcurrent step.
Which combination is used depends on your skin’s individual needs, and your therapist will adjust accordingly. The cooling element in particular makes this a genuinely comfortable way to finish the treatment, leaving skin calm, firm, and settled.
What Can the Aquapure Hydrafacial Treat?
The Aquapure is one of the most versatile treatments we offer. Because each step can be customised, it can be adapted to address a wide range of skin concerns, including:
-
Dehydration and dullness
-
Oily and congested skin, including blackheads and enlarged pores
-
Uneven skin tone and texture
-
Fine lines and early signs of ageing
-
Hyperpigmentation and sun damage
-
Loss of facial tone and firmness
It works across a wide age range too. Younger clients with congestion or acne-prone skin benefit from the deep cleansing and exfoliation. Those focused on anti-ageing get real value from the microcurrent and collagen-stimulating steps. And for anyone who simply wants their skin to look its best before an event, the Aquapure delivers immediate, visible results.
Who Is the Aquapure Hydrafacial Suitable For?
The Aquapure is suitable for all skin types, including dry, oily, combination, and sensitive skin. It’s non-invasive and gentle, which makes it an excellent choice for those who are new to professional skin treatments, as well as those who want a reliable, results-driven option they can return to regularly.
It’s also an ideal maintenance treatment between more intensive procedures like microneedling or HIFU, keeping the skin in peak condition and maximising the results of those treatments.
What to Expect During Your Aquapure Hydrafacial at Select Skin
The full treatment takes 30 to 45 minutes. No numbing cream is required, and there is no recovery period. Most clients find it comfortable and relaxing throughout.
If you have specific skin concerns, we recommend starting with a skin consultation so we can customise the treatment to your skin and advise on the best active skincare routine to use alongside it. For a straightforward skin refresh, you can book directly.
Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup. After the treatment, your skin will have been infused with active ingredients, so we recommend avoiding makeup for the first 24 hours if possible, steering clear of active ingredients like retinols and acids for the first week, and applying SPF as your first step back into your routine.
Results: What to Expect and How Long They Last
The Aquapure Hydrafacial is one of the few treatments where the immediate results are genuinely impressive. Most clients notice clearer, more hydrated, and more radiant skin as soon as they leave the clinic. Pores look smaller, skin feels smoother, and that particular dullness that builds up over time is visibly lifted.
Immediate results typically last around seven days. With regular treatments, the benefits compound: collagen production builds, skin tone evens out, and the overall health and resilience of the skin improves over time. For maintenance, most clients benefit from a treatment every four to six weeks, or monthly as part of an ongoing skin health routine.
For more significant or persistent concerns, we’d typically recommend a course of five to eight sessions, spaced two to three weeks apart, before moving to a maintenance schedule.
Pairing the Aquapure with Other Treatments
The Aquapure works beautifully as a standalone treatment, but it also pairs well with other procedures. Because it’s non-invasive and involves no downtime, it can be used to prepare the skin before more intensive treatments or to support recovery and maintain results afterwards.
It complements our skin needling + exosome therapy treatments particularly well as a maintenance treatment between sessions, keeping the skin hydrated and clear while collagen remodelling progresses. It also works alongside Ultraformer III HIFU for clients on more comprehensive treatment plans.
We’ll always discuss what makes sense for your skin and your goals during your consultation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Aquapure Hydrafacial painful?
No. The treatment is comfortable throughout and requires no numbing cream. The aqua peeling step involves gentle suction, the electroporation produces a mild warmth or tingling, and the cooling step at the end is soothing. Most clients find the overall experience relaxing.
Is there any downtime?
No downtime. You can return to your normal activities immediately. Some clients experience mild, temporary redness for a few hours after treatment, particularly those with sensitive skin. If you’re planning the treatment ahead of a special occasion, a few days’ buffer is ideal, though many clients book it as a same-day glow treatment.
How often should I have the Aquapure Hydrafacial?
For general skin maintenance and hydration, once every four to six weeks works well for most clients. For more targeted results, a course of five to eight sessions spaced two to three weeks apart is recommended, followed by a maintenance schedule. We’ll map this out with you based on your skin and goals.
Can I wear makeup straight after?
We recommend avoiding makeup for the first 24 hours where possible, as your skin will have been infused with active ingredients and benefits from being left to absorb them undisturbed. After that, you’re fine to return to your usual routine. SPF should be applied as soon as you step outside.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. The Aquapure is one of the gentler professional treatments available and is well tolerated by sensitive skin types. The solutions and settings are adjustable, so your therapist can dial back intensity in any step where needed. If you have reactive skin, mention it at your consultation and we’ll tailor accordingly.
Are there any contraindications?
The Aquapure Hydrafacial is not suitable for everyone. We would advise against treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an electrical implant such as a pacemaker, have metal pins in the treatment area, have active acne, open wounds, or active inflammation in the treatment area, or have a known allergy to any of the treatment solutions. We review all of this during your consultation and will always recommend the most appropriate approach for your situation.
How does the Aquapure compare to a other Hydrafacials?
Most Hydrafacial focuses primarily on cleansing, extraction, and hydration. The Aquapure includes all of that via the Aquapeel step, but adds electroporation for deeper ingredient delivery, microcurrent for lifting and collagen stimulation, and thermal energy for firming and recovery. It’s a more comprehensive treatment that addresses more aspects of skin health in a single session.
