Treatment FAQs

IPL offers a multi-faceted approach to skin health and rejuvenation:

IPL treatment for dark spots and sun damage: Reduction in dark spots, patches of pigment and a more even skin tone and texture.

IPL treatment for facial redness: Improved appearance of redness and a clearer complexion.

IPL treatment for skin ageing: Enhanced texture, with fewer wrinkles and renewed firmness due to increased collagen production.

IPL treatment for acne: Fewer breakouts, smoother skin, and less visible scarring.

For overall skin renewal, IPL gives your skin a fresh, clear and even skin tone while promoting collagen production to improve your skin texture.

Proper skin preparation ensures the best outcomes. During your consultation, we’ll recommend an skincare routine to condition and prepare your skin.

Avoid fake tan products and sun exposure for two weeks before your session to maintain your natural skin tone and minimise unexpected outcomes or risks.

Please avoid retinoids (Vitamin A) for one week prior to your treatment.

During your IPL treatment, your skin is prepared with a gentle cleanse and gel application.

Then a handpiece with correct filter for your skin condition is applied.

During the IPL treatment you will feel warm pulses of light that feels like a flick of rubber band onto the skin.

After the treatment your dermal therapist will apply the creams and serums most suitable for your skin condition.

Post-treatment, your skin may feel warm and tingly for a few hours, with temporary redness and swelling. Pigmented areas may darken before fading within 7-10 days.

Minimal downtime allows you to return to daily activities almost immediately.

We’ll provide detailed post-treatment care instructions, including sun protection and recommended skincare.

Results vary based on specific skin concerns, severity, and skin type.

Most clients notice improvements after the first or second session, with optimal results typically visible after 3 to 6 sessions spaced about four weeks apart.

Continued improvements can be seen for several months following the last treatment, as IPL stimulates collagen production.

IPL is most effective on light to medium skin tones and is unsuitable for very dark or tanned skin due to the risk of hyperpigmentation.

If you’re concerned about hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture, sun spots, facial redness, broken capillaries, spider veins, telangiectasias or pigmented acne scarring, IPL is an excellent treatment option.

A full skin consultation will determine your suitability and explore other treatment options if IPL isn’t right for you.
