Three Hero Ingredients for Healthy, Glowing Skin

I have three ingredients in my daily skincare routine that I consider the heroes in my bathroom cabinet.

When it comes to keeping your skin healthy, glowing and resilient, three ingredients stand out: niacinamide, retinol and hyaluronic acid.

Skincare ingredients that all work in slightly different ways to provide my skin with protection, rejuvenation, and hydration.

When combined, they work in harmony to support my efforts in keeping my skin healthy, resilient, and glowing.

Protecting the skin with niacinamide

It supports the skin in numerous ways and is suitable for every skin type and condition.

Niacinamide is an essential nutrient that helps your body function properly. In your diet, it can be found in red meat, chicken, fish, green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, and asparagus; even the humble loaf of bread is fortified with Niacin.

While your diet likely provides enough niacin, your skin can still become depleted thanks to daily environmental stress.

But how does applying niacinamide topically to your skin help?

Well, it’s an impressive list of benefits.

Niacinamide supports the skin’s immunity, leading to a better repair mechanism and reduced inflammation.

It helps your skin hold onto moisture, reduces redness, and strengthens your barrier — making it less reactive and more resilient.

Niacinamide also helps protect your skin from the sun’s heat and has been shown to reduce the transfer of pigment in the skin, which, if left unchecked, can lead to visible blotchy pigmentation.

XCell B serum contains 21% niacinamide to deliver maximum levels of vitamin B3 to the target cells of the epidermis and dermis.

This will result in an improvement to the barrier function, skin immunity, tone, texture, hydration levels, and collagen production, leading to the improved appearance of fine lines and increased firmness.

Cell rejuvenation with vitamin A, aka Retinol

You may be familiar with vitamin A, also known as retinol. Vitamin A is another essential nutrient for every organ of your body.

Retinol plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy, visibly youthful skin.

When applied regularly, retinol will increase skin cell turnover.

As cell turnover naturally slows with age, retinol provides your skin with the boost it needs to stay fresh, smooth, and rejuvenated.

Retinol will also repair damage caused by the environment by repairing the DNA of your skin cells.

Signs of DNA damage can show up as pigmentation, fine lines, dullness, or dehydration — and in some cases, contribute to more serious changes over time.

When introducing retinol into your skincare routine, it’s best to start slowly and gradually increase your use over time as your skin becomes more resilient and tolerant.

If your skin becomes irritated, reduce both usage and the amount you’re applying. When it comes to retinol, less is always more, and once your skin adapts, you will begin to see a remarkable improvement in the texture, hydration and tone of your skin.

Bring your bounce back with hyaluronic acid

Your body already produces hyaluronic acid; it’s a watery substance that provides cushioning to your skin.

Found in the dermis, if you’ve been protecting your skin with niacinamide and retinol, you’ll naturally produce hyaluronic acid within the deeper layers of your skin, giving it suppleness and bounce.

However, constant exposure to UV, wind, and air conditioning can make it difficult for your skin to stay hydrated on its own.

Using hyaluronic acid topically helps lock in moisture on the surface while your skin restores itself from within.

Ideal for skin experiencing increased moisture loss — whether due to dry climates, a weakened barrier, or compromised hydration levels.

This intensive serum contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to deliver a surge of moisture, instantly plumping the skin and relieving visible signs of dehydration. It supports improved water retention and helps protect against ongoing transepidermal water loss (TEWL).
